As Salva waits anxiously in the car, the forensic team, led by Raquel, occupies the estate and scours for DNA evidence. She informs all the roads in the vicinity to be blocked. Raquel cannot make sense of the evidence, for good reason. The Professor had knowingly led the police to Toledo, where he had staged a crime scene with the DNA of people unrelated to the heist.
Raquel calls for her ex-husband, Alberto Vicuña, who heads the forensic department. Salva leafs through a journal belonging to Paula, Raquel’s daughter, and finds a comment from her teacher regarding Alberto asking to meet Paula. Raquel picks up things that the Professor had intentionally littered on the ground.
Moscow calls the Professor but he is unreachable. Berlin wants to leave but Tokyo and Nairobi accuse him for having sex with a poor hostage. Denver then announces his relationship with Mónica, at which Nairobi rebukes him, saying that Mónica has developed Stockholm syndrome. Berlin asks them to wait for six more hours before starting Plan Chernobyl.
Raquel tells Salva that she wants to quit the case as she feels out of her depth on the field. The two meet Alberto. Rio brings a stash of money for Tokyo that he wants to hide. Denver tells his father about his true love for Mónica. Moscow replies that she is too intelligent and sophisticated for him. Tokyo and Rio steal a television from the room next door so they can get to know the news about the Professor.
Alberto informs Raquel that the furnace would be a good place for the gang to destroy any evidence. As Denver is applying medicine to the wound on Mónica’s backside, she tries to seduce him, to which he tells her about her Stockholm syndrome and that he cannot let her go insane. Berlin continues with his act of seducing Ariadna when Tokyo interrupts him, saying that the Professor is in trouble.
It is shown in flashback that the Professor is burning old photos of his father in the furnace, as well as a news clipping of how his father was shot dead in a bank robbery. Now, the gang is watching the news on TV, where the Professor has been arrested for interrogation. (He had been asking the police for a way to get home, and Alberto had agreed to drop him.) The hot-headed Tokyo wants to start Plan Chernobyl, but Berlin stops her because all the money would be lost. Helsinki, Moscow and Nairobi support his belief in the Professor.
Seeing that Oslo will never move again, Helsinki euthanises him out of compassion by strangling him with a pillow. Tokyo, Rio and Denver, who do not have faith in the Professor, apprehend Berlin and lead him out.
